Visiting America's Hometown

Top Things To Do and Experience While in Plymouth MA
FUN THINGS TO DO:
Long Beach: Grab a backpack, towel, and some sunblock ~You can drive, walk, bike, roll or stroll to the beach from downtown area. It’s about 3 miles or so from Ziggy’s ice cream shack… an important stop after the day at the beach ;)
Downtown: We walk and bike sometimes but drive down and park and walk around - parking is free at the Plimoth Gristmill (6 Spring Lane). Otherwise, you have to pay…don’t forget bc tickets are brutal down there.
Plimoth Gristmill and Brewster Gardens: They are fun to explore and walk around - the gardens take you all the way down to the waterfront.
Free Summer Concert Series: Wednesday evenings in the summer starting June 26th (except for 7/3) they hold free concerts at the waterfront pavilion. There are food trucks that have VERY yummy food. Bring a chair or blanket (we have a supply for your convenience), BYOB, and enjoy the evening (starts around 6).
The Spire has a lobby series of concerts that are easy to get into - and inexpensive $15.00. Check out the dates and artists here: https://spirecenter.org/

BEYOND PLYMOUTH:
Martha’s Vineyard: The Steamship Authority ferry from Woods Hole is walk-on and tickets are $10 per person one way. Woods Hole is about a 50-minute drive from the house and you must be there 30 minutes before departure so plan accordingly. There are free parking lots with a shuttle to the port.

Cape Cod: The best towns for walking around, shopping, and restaurants are Falmouth, Chatham and Province Town. All have beaches as well. Falmouth is about 30 minutes from the house Chatham is about an hour and PTown is about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
For the Physical: The Cape Cod Shining Sea Bikeway is a casual and lovely bike trail that starts in Falmouth and runs for 10 miles along several communities ending in Woods Hole. We have done this adventure several times and always stop for lunch before riding back. It’s a lovely day ride.

For the More Physical: The Cape Cod Rail Trail is a moderate bike trail that starts in S. Yarmouth and ends in Wellfleet. It is a 25-mile (one-way) bike trail that takes you through 6 Cape towns. It also is a lovely day, but a little more physical.
